In the Philippines, most web development teams, digital agencies and brands are not yet able to incorporate research in the design process. They feel that the “extra” step uses up resources (time AND money), with insignificant returns.
But for true UX to be executed, research is integral. The discipline was established by a cognitive psychologist and a human-computer interaction analyst, and its real value is guiding design teams into developing products aligned to their user’s behavior.
Which you can only do and validate through research.
To help teams understand how they can do research on their own, and how or when best to do it so they aren’t just throwing away money, I conduct user research workshops with the teams I’ve worked with. The goal being to equip them to practice basic user research on their own, as they see fit.
